Wittenberg in Reformation times

“Wittenberg in Reformation times” – that is the theme of a special attraction to mark not only the Reformation anniversary in 2017. A 360° panorama brings Wittenberg to life – with some of its most famous inhabitants Philipp Melanchthon, Cranach the Elder and the Younger, Katharina von Bora, Martin Luther and his fellow Reformer Justus Jonas. 
The show, with its fascinating and creative use of space, will stay open till October 2024. Artist Yadegar Asisi has revived the tradition of huge circular images (cycloramas) that was popular in the 19th century and then displaced by the advent of moving pictures. 
Constantly refining this art form in past years, Asisi has transported viewers to remote areas like the Amazon or Mount Everest, and to distant ages such as Rome in 312, Pergamon or Leipzig in 1813.

For Berlin he created a panorama called The Wall that grips the viewers with its numerous artistic images. “Whether I show cities or landscapes, what moves me is the tension between human creativity and nature. Ultimately I am interested in the many different variations on developing and perishing.” 
New vistas open up to the visitors when they step into the painting; they can also gain a more profound insight into the world of Luther and rediscover the Reformation theme at one of its major places of origin
The rotunda in Wittenberg is not just another historical museum: it makes the Reformation an all-round sensory experience.

We are looking forward to welcome you at the Panorama LUTHER 1517 in Wittenberg. You can buy your ticket always on-site. <a class="open-ticket-modal-btn">Here</a> you can purchase your ticket in advance. 
All individual tickets come along with an acoustic guide.

Normal: No reduction

Parent-child ticket: valid for maximum 2 adults and 3 children between 6 and 16 years old. 
Group:group from 10 people 
School groups: from 10 people, school education 1st to 12th/13th grade, one accompanying person per 10 students has free admission.

Student Groups: 35 Euros (40 Euros for other language than German) plus ticket expenses
Number of participants is 1 to 20. It is possible to extend the number up to 25. In that case a surcharge of 3 Euros for participant 21 to 25 will be charged.

The art historian Dr. Monika Kaiser opens you for you another side of the multimedia artwork LUTHER 1517. The development of Yadegar Asisi and his contemporary Panorama Art together with the interaction between digital collage, musical backdrop, and illumination will be detailly explained on site.

News

The artist Yadegar Asisi opened 2003 in an abandoned gasholder in Leipzig his first panorama site with the 360° artwork 8848-Panorama360°. He transferred the 19th century panorama concept to the presence. Until today Yadegar Asisi created 16 panoramas. They all take us away to an encounter of historic occasions or of fascinating spaces. 
Besides Wittenberg Yadegar Asisi’s panoramas are displayed in Berlin, Leipzig, Dresden and Pforzheim.
